Located just off I-70 and only 45 miles west of Denver, the Georgetown Loop Railroad and Mining Park is one of Colorado’s most authentic living museums and historically immersive experiences.
George Rowe Museum resides in a former school house in quiet Silver Plume. The school house was built in 1894 after the silver bust.
Enjoy our spectacular scenery, beautiful sunshine and mountain air from our many hiking trails above and around Silver Plume.
The Argentine Central Railroad Grade trail follows the old rail bed of the Argentine Central line. All railway remnants have long since been removed, and in its place is a wide, well-defined trail with an easy grade. .
Built in 1875 and used until 1915. One of its prisoners was Jack McDonald, a Scots-Irish miner and previous owner of the 7:30 Mine.
The first brewery opened in Denver in 1859 and soon dozens more began to make beer in mining towns like Silver Plume, Idaho Springs and Empire.
