🐻 Bear & Wildlife Alert

Timberline Disposal provides Silver Plume residential customers with curbside trash & recycling pickup each Tuesday free of charge. They also provide 3 dumpsters in town for residents on steep roads without curbside access.

  • Do not put construction debris, furniture, tires, or mattresses in the dumpsters.
  • Do not place items outside the dumpster — the driver cannot load large items.
  • Trash pickup is Tuesday morning. Leave your trash secured until Tuesday morning!
  • If not picked up, bring it in — do not leave it out overnight!
  • If you use town dumpsters, close and secure the sliding doors!
  • If a door jams, contact the Town Clerk at 303-569-2363.

Helpful Tips

  • Do not store pet food, bird seed, or trash behind flimsy doors.
  • Bear-proof trash cans: $7.50/month (50% discount for SP residents) — contact the Town Clerk.

Please help Silver Plume not be a source of food for the bears in our area.

The federally designated Georgetown–Silver Plume National Historic District comprises Silver Plume, Georgetown, and the Georgetown Loop Historic Mining & Railroad Park.

Our History

Written by the late John Calhoun, 1995 — some details may have changed.

Silver Plume is a very small, old, rural mining town dating from the Colorado gold and silver rush of the last four decades of the 19th century.

In 1859, gold was discovered at the confluence of Clear Creek and the Platte River near what is now Denver. Thousands of fortune-seekers headed into the Rocky Mountains, seeking veins of ore.
